No More Bets
No More Bets, is a book which takes on the topic of pathological gambling with the idea that it is a destructive condition which silently disorientates many people, as the progression of the addiction leads to one’s loss of money, trust, life structure, and mind. If you have a problem with compulsive gambling, you may continually chase bets that lead to losses, hide your behavior, deplete savings, accumulate debt, or even resort to theft or fraud to support your addiction.
The book aims to highlight the issue of problem gambling in Ireland, which has recently been ranked as having the third highest per capita rate of gambling losses in the world with a registered loss of around €2.1bn in 2017 (H2 Gambling Capital), and the fact that problem Gambling has been relatively ignored by Irish politicians, for it is not as visible as alcohol or drug problems and it’s seen as not a pressing matter, even though it is one of the graves issues facing Irish Society today. I was awarded a ISTD membership through the submission of this book.
